Fish seeds distributed to flood-affected farmers

Imphal, January 19 2026:
The Department of Fisheries, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, has distributed approximately 2 lakh fish fingerlings to flood-affected fish farmers across the State.
The distribution took place today at the office complex of the Directorate of Fisheries in Lamphelpat under the ICAR-CIFA NEH Outreach Programme.
T Phulen Meitei, Director of Fisheries, Manipur, along with other officials from the department, oversaw the distribution of Rohu and Amur Carp fish fingerlings.
Around 200 flood-affected fish fanners from five valley districts- Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching, received the assistance.
During the distribution programme, the Director expressed profound gratitude to Dr PK Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, and Dr Subendhu Adhikari, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA, for their support.
The initiative aimed to assist the flood-affected fish farmers in reviving their economic activities and enhancing overall fish production in the region.
