Imphal, May 14 2009: Another non-local from Bihar state gunned down by miscreants tonight near the gate of the ITI, Takyel under Lamphel police station after a gap of three days to the killing five non-locals including four from Uttar Pradesh.

The killing of the non-local takes places even as UP police has reportedly intimated Manipur police chief to ensure safe return of residents of the state staying in the state who want to come back.

A news report from Lucknow said that after the death of four residents of Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district in Manipur at the hand of undergrounds, the state police there have requested its counterparts in the north-eastern state to ensure safe return of those from UP who want to come back.

ADG (law and order) Brij Lal reportedly said that nine traders of Kesarkala village under Dibai police station area in Bulandshahr had gone to Bishnupur district of Manipur for selling bedsheets from door to door.

Of these nine, four along with another person belonging to Manipur were recently killed by militants, who took them to be intelligence personnel, the ADG said.

Lal said he has got in touch with the Director General of Police, Manipur and requested him to ensure the safe return of all such people who wanted to come back.

There are about 40 to 50 such people of Uttar Pradesh in Manipur, the ADG said.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem after which they would be handed over to their relatives, Lal said, adding district police officials have also been asked to get in touch with the families of the deceased and extend all help possible.

Meanwhile, another non-local hailing from Bihar and currently residing at a rented house at Sagolband Khamnam Keithel Soram Leirak identified as Mandan (26) was shot dead by some miscreants tonight at around 7.30 pm at a spot near the main gate of the ITI, Takyel under Lamphel police station of Imphal west.

The slain man, a barber by profession and running a saloon under the name "Mandan Saloon" located nearby the place where he was shot dead had two bullet injury marks, one at the right shoulder and other at waist.

Mandan stayed at the rented house of one Namoijam Dhanabir of Sagolband Khamnam Keithel Soram Leirak and the shop he run his saloon belong to one Paonam Sanatomba.

According to the locals at the spot, miscreants called out him while he was having tea to a hotel nearby his saloon which is also run by non-local.

Miscreants entering the hotel asked the woman running the hotel whereabouts of her husband.

When she said, he was not there, the miscreants turned towards the saloon and asked whether he (Mandan) is the husband and called out him from the hotel.

After calling out for some distance, he was shot at two times with a small gun by the miscreants.

He died at the spot.

Police retrieved the dead body from the spot and kept at RIMS morgue.

The killing the non-local took place while three non-locals who have been abducted together with five slain men and one survivor massacred at Khordak area in Loktak lake are still missing.

The massacre took place on May 11 last.
