Cycle rally promotes fitness, raise awareness on obesity

Imphal, April 13 2025: As part of the "Sunday on Cycle" campaign launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI)/Sports Training Centre, Imphal, in collaboration with Citizens Club, Soibam Leikai organised a cycle rally on Sunday to promote fitness and raise awareness about obesity.

Held under the theme "The Fight Obesity Revolution", the rally was flagged off from Citizens Club by Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) director Dr Mayengbam Veto, and CRPF Group Centre, Langjing commandant Padmashri N Kunjarani.

Approximately 200 cyclists participated in the rally, including women commando personnel of 232 (Mahila) Battalion of CRPF, members of Royal Humber, Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association, Citizens Club and individuals from across the state.

Citizens Club president Naorem Mahendra, SAI/STC Imphal Centre in-charge Maibam Ramani Chanu, CRPF assistant commandants Shahnaz Ali and Purnima Pal, second-in-command Riza Chanu and social influencer Rohan Philem also participated in the approximately 10 kilometres long rally, which ended at the starting point.

According to organisers, event aims to encourage the public to incorporate cycling in their daily routines as a means to maintain physical fitness and contribute towards building a healthier nation.
