Kakching, November 12 2025:
The indefinite Kakching district bandh, called by various civil society organisations (CSOs) of Kakching in protest against the authorities' failure to repair the badly damaged stretch of NH 137 (A) passing through Kakching district, has been temporarily suspended for five days.
Speaking on the development, president of Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, Yengkhom Rajendra representing the CSOs, said that the indefinite bandh, which began at midnight of Monday, was decided to called off after authorities took the initiative to begin road repairs, and following a request from the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, who urged the CSOs to suspend the bandh and assured that a review meeting would be held on Monday to monitor the progress of the ongoing repair work.
However he cautioned that if the outcome of Monday's meeting fails to meet public expectations, the bandh will be reimposed from the evening of the same day, accompanied by more intense forms of agitation.
