66 Bn CRPF distributes livelihood equipment to IDPs in Thoubal

Thoubal, December 02 2025:
As part of its Civic Action Programme (CAP), the 66 Bn CRPF, Thoubal, on Monday distributed sewing machines, agarbatti-making machines and candle making machines to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) taking shelter at the Rice Research Station, Khangabok, and Lamding Higher Secondary School.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei as chief guest; D/66 Bn CRPF 2-i/ c Suresh Kumar Yadav as president; and Deputy Commandant Kishan Salam and Asst Commandant Navneet Nishchal as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Thoubal Hannah Kahmei said the IDPs, unable to return to their homes, have been staying at relief camps and facing severe hardships for around three years.
She noted that the CRPF's initiative to support their livelihood by providing various machines is commendable and reflects genuine empathy for the displaced families.
She expressed hope that such initiatives would continue in the future for the overall development and welfare of the IDPs.
She added that the Government has also initiated several welfare measures for IDPs and encouraged them to report their grievances to the authorities for prompt redressal.
Addressing the gathering, 2 i/c Suresh Kumar Yadav highlighted the CRPF's ongoing efforts to support local communities and strengthen trust and cooperation with the public.
He noted that the Civic Action Programme plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life in remote areas while enhancing cordial relations between security forces and villagers.
During the programme, five sewing machines, five agarbatti-making machines, and two candle-making machines were handed over to the IDPs to help them earn a sustainable livelihood.
