Imphal, April 29 2025:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association and relevant Government authority to resolve their differences and enforce the Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Rules 2024 .
According to a press release issued by Oinam Romesh Meitei, secretary education, DESAM HO, despite two orders issued by the Government directing private schools in the State to register themselves, a majority of the schools remain unregistered.
Upon investigation, DESAM found that the schools were not registered as the All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association had some grievances with some of the provisions in the Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Rules 2024, which the Government failed to amend.
Highlighting the importance of bringing the private schools under a set of regulations, DESAM has urged the two parties to start dialogue and arrive at a resolution to ensure that the Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Rules 2024 is implemented promptly.
