AT petitions Governor for early end to conflict

Imphal, May 28 2024:
Arambai Tenggol (AT) general
headquarters has submitted a memorandum to Governor Anusuiya Uikey
proposing her to exert pressure on state
and central governments for bringing
early solution to the ongoing conflict.
The representation also sought the
Governor's intervention to ensure that no
arrest or legal actions is initiated against
village volunteers including Arambai
Tenggol by any commission, tribunal,
court, etc.
Led by AT general headquarters public relations officer Robin Mangang
Khwairakpam along with AT Unit 19
commander Langolba Meetei and Unit
30 commander Aboy, the memorandum
was submitted to the Governor through
her secretary on Tuesday.
The memorandum pointed out that the
ethnic conflict that erupted on May 3,
2023 has been continuing for more than
a year resulting in the death of many and
displacement of thousands of Meitei/
Meetei community.
It further demanded the government for
border fencing, implementation of NRC with
1951 as base year, deportation of all illegal
immigrant to their native places, abrogation
of SoO agreement signed with Kuki armed
outfits and stringent action against militants
violating SoO, complete destruction of poppy
plantations, withdrawal of ST status from
illegal immigrants, amendment of MLR&LR
Act 1960 for fair implementation in both hill
and valley, and reinstate the ST status of
Meitei/Meetei.
