Imphal, May 26 2025:
In the backdrop of the growing people's dissent and disappointment against the PR administration, leaders of several political parties and intellectuals have asserted that it would not be right for the ruling MLAs to take undue time but work zealously to form a popular Government in the State at the earliest.
The MLAs must work with a strong will to form a popular Government in place of the President's Rule and explore a solution to the protracted crisis, they said.
All the issues and the problems besieging the State can be resolved only when there is a popular Government.
It will be hard for the PR administration to feel the people's pulse and act accordingly, the political leaders and the intellectuals said.
Pointing out that BJP has more than enough MLAs to form a popular Government, some well known leaders who believe in the ideology of BJP said that the prolonged absence of a popular Government can escalate the prevailing restive situation.
They said that the BJP MLAs are still unable to form a popular Government because of ego clash, disunity, groupism and struggle for leadership.
The people know very well that President's Rule was imposed in the State because of sharp differences among the BJP MLAs.
The people's suffering will only aggravate if the BJP MLAs cannot form a popular Government due to their internal differences and power struggle, they said.
In case a mid-term election is held, people may lose their faith in the BJP MLAs and BJP may face a reversal of their fortune, the political observers said.
Though late, it would be wise for the BJP MLAs to uphold the people's faith and expectations, they said.
Contrary to the people's expectation that the PR administration would be able to bring a solution to the Manipur crisis, the PR administration has been doing all kinds of absurd things, they said.
What the people of Manipur need at the moment is collective and active efforts from the BJP MLAs to form a popular Government, not power struggle among them, the political observers pointed out.
It would not be right for the ruling MLAs to take undue time like playing chess in the name of making political moves, they said.
Manipur is literally burning at the moment and their (MLAs) first priority must be saving the State.
The political leaders/observers said that bureaucrats can never bring a settlement to the restive situation.
The PR administration even after completing three months has not yet initiated any step to bring a solution to the protracted crisis through dialogue with the communities in conflict, they said.
The PR administration is still unable to open National Highways to all sections of people.
If the BJP Central and State leaders cannot work together to bring a solution to the Manipur crisis and re-install a popular Government, the situation may worsen, they warned.
They asserted that BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda has failed miserably to act decisively as the party's president and bring the dissenting BJP MLAs together.
BJP is unable to carry out mobilization campaigns at the grassroots level even though the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly election is due in 2027 .
This will prove to a big disadvantage to the party, they said.
Meanwhile, people are losing their faith in the Governor as he is still unable to take up any tangible action, the political leaders said.
