Tributes paid to 'martyrs'

Imphal, November 12 2025: A number of people today paid floral tributes to Ayekpam Dhiren alias Angam, Phurailatpam Kabikanta and Pukhrambam Gambhir at their memorial located at Kameng Leimarok.

The three were killed in a gun battle with security forces on November 12, 1978 .

Apart from family members of the three martyrs, people of the surrounding villages joined the memorial function and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.

One Phurailatpam Dine-swor, speaking on behalf of the families of the three martyrs, said that they have been offering floral tributes at the martyrs' memorial every year.

The martyrdom of the three men will complete 50 years in 2028 .

The three families filed a petition at the HC seeking permission to observe the memorial function together with friends and relatives on a grander scale ahead of the 50th anniversary.

"We are observing the memorial function today with due permission of the High Court", Dineswor said.

Family members and the public also paid floral tributes to Ayekpam Dhiren, Phurailatpam Kabikanta and Pukhrambam Gambhir at their memorial located at Tera.
