Imphal, July 12 2025: The Manipur Hills and Valley Relief & Disaster Monitoring Committee has appeal ed to the Governor and Chief Secretary to expedite the process for grant of relief assistance to the victims of flood and landslide occurred in the year 2022 .

"It is beyond the comprehension of the public as to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has approved and forwarded to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) for necessary action but till date the matter has been kept pending for reason best known to them", said the Monitoring Committee in a release.

Expressing concerned that process for the recent flood and landslide may also be delayed due to sluggish work at the district level, the Monitoring Committee urged the State authority to take immediate steps to release the pending relief assistance for the victims of flood and landslide of 2022 and complete the process for award of relief assistance to the victims of the recent flood and landslides on compassionate & humanitarian ground.

Furthermore, the Monitoring Committee extended its appreciation to the High court of Manipur for taking up a Suo motu PIL No 15 of 2025 with regard to "monitoring of flood and landslides occurred in 2025 in the State of Manipur" .
