Imphal, July 20 2026:
The Haoreibi Apunba Lup (HAL) has urged the PHED, Manipur to complete the Haoreibi Awang Leikai Wa-ter Supply Scheme within three months of its inauguration, warning of strong public action if demands are not met.
In a release, HAL said the scheme was inaugurated on April 29, 2026 by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand and Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam.
However, even after three months, residents are yet to receive clean drinking water due to incomplete work.
Citing concerns over premature inauguration, HAL said a public meeting was held on April 27, 2026 and a petition was submitted to PHED highlighting public grievances.
HAL stated that if the project is not completed and piped clean water is not provided to every household of Haoreibi by July 29, 2026, the public will launch intense agitations.
It held the concerned authorities responsible for any fallout.
The Lup also condemned branding those who opposed the early inauguration as "anti-development" .
