Training programme on human rights ends

A three-day training programme held under the aegis of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties Education, MU concluded today at MU lecture hall.
The closing ceremony was attended by MU vice-chancellor H Nandakumar Sarma, Centre for Human Rights and Duties Education, MU co-ordinator Dr M Sureshkumar, MU Registrar Professor N Lokendro, Social activist RK Ranendrajit and IGP zone II L Kailun as functional chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The training programme was attended by 70 police personnel.
Speaking at the occasion, MU VC Nandakumar said the level of crime in the State would decrease if mankind sticks to civilised norms of living.
Stating that the level of human rights violation is high in most part of the world, Nandakumar opined that mankind are more inclined to evil things by nature.
This he added, is the main reason for the rise in the level of human rights violation all over the world.

The fear at the sight of police among civilians are mainly driven by the tradition followed by the State, RK Ranendrajit said during his speech.
In a State like Manipur which is prone to crimes and conflicts, the State forces ought to be given strict training, Ranendrajit added.
India as a democratic country must feel and understand the sentiments of its people.
A ruler with a colonial mindset can never form a sound relationship with its people, he added.
The event was also attended by Social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and IPSA president T Ibotombi Khuman.
Participants were also presented with certificates during the closing ceremony today.
