A public meeting demanding justice for victims of the alleged CRPF firing incident at Tronglaobi was held on Thursday at Ibudhou Sandhong Laibung, Kumbi, under the banner "We Want Justice" .
The programme was organised by the Command and Control Committee, Kumbi Assembly Constituency, in solidarity with the victims, including Wahengbam Boby Singh and Laishram Ningol Wahengbam Ongbi Guni Devi, who lost their lives in the incident.
Addressing the gathering, women leader Wahengbam Ongbi Sharda Devi questioned claims of normalcy in Manipur, stating that peace remains elusive in the State.
She criticised the authorities, asserting that if the State leadership is unable to govern effectively, maintain law and order, and ensure justice, they should step down.
She further stated that any movement initiated by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) for safeguarding the State would receive full support from the people of Kumbi.
Emphasising the need for unity, she called upon mothers, civil society organisations (CSOs) and the public to collectively stand together to protect the State and restore peace.
The meeting was attended by members of COCOMI, representatives of various CSOs from different parts of the State, and local leaders from across Kumbi AC.
Participants held placards bearing slogans such as "Stop Polarisation of Society on Communal Lines", "Fight Against Communalism", "Why is Manipur's Problem Not a National Issue", "Prevent Obstruction of National Highways", "Allow Free Movement of Goods and People", "Protect Territorial Integrity of Manipur", "Save Manipur, Filter Illegal Immigrants", "Justice for Victims", "Take Immediate Corrective Measures to Restore Peace and Normalcy in Manipur", "Manipur Crisis is a National Issue", and "Abrogate SoO".
The meeting concluded with a strong call for justice, accountability and immediate measures to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
