World Breastfeeding Week observance kicks off

Thoubal, August 01 2024: The observance of World Breastfeeding Week - 2024 kicked off at Thoubal district under the theme "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding for all" today.

The observance was inaugurated by Dr Y Nokul, District Mission Director of District Health Society Thoubal and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Thoubal during a programme held at NHM Conference Hall in CMO complex Thoubal.

The observance of World Breastfeeding Week will be held in all the health facilities in Thoubal district.

The inaugural programme was also attended by Dr W Ruhinikumar, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Thoubal and Dr Kh Sandeep, District Nodal Officer of Child Health, DHS Thoubal as the presidium members.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Y Nokul highlighted the multiple benefits of breastfeeding to the health of the babies and lactating mothers as well.

Stating that the medical personnel and community health workers have a crucial role to play iff raising mass awareness on the importance of breastfeeding, he urged them to make dedicated efforts for the successful conduct of the observance.

Medical staff and ASHA workers also attended today's programme.
