Swachhata Hi Seva, 2024 campaign launched, cleanliness drive conducted

Manipur State Archaeology, Government of Manipur on Saturday launched the "Swachhata hi Seva, 2024 Campaign at Historical/Archaeological Sites of Manipur" at Kangla Fort, Imphal.
The event was graced by M Joy Singh, Commissioner (Art & Culture) and K Dinamani Singh, Director, Art & Culture, Government of Manipur as presidium members.
Delivering the welcome address, Shashikanta, Superintendent, State Archaeology, said that Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 campaign is being conducted from September 17 to October 2, as a part of India's ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the country.
He said that during the campaign, cleanliness drives will be carried out at different historical/archaeological sites in the State.
M Joy Singh stressed on the importance of cleanliness and urged all to keep their surrounding environment neat & clean to put all kinds of diseases at bay.
He also highlighted the important role of "Saphai Karmachari" and added that benefits of Government welfare schemes should also be provided to them.
Later, T-shirts and jackets printed with the logo of SHS 2024 were also distributed to the "Saphai Karmacharis" taking part in the cleanliness drive.
Moreover, the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign was also launched at Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East on Friday.
During the inaugural function, Dr K Jaboshakhi Devi, Principal of Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College administered the Swachhata Pledge to all the students, teaching and nonteaching staff, said a release.
It was followed by a cleanliness drive in the surrounding areas of Ema Lai Khurembi Laisang in Khurai Thongam Leikai.
Students of the Sociology Department and NSS Unit of the college along with volunteers of Eastern Popular Club (EPC) took active part in the cleanliness drive.
Meanwhile, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Group Centre, CRPF, Langjing, Imphal conducted a cleanliness drive at Khundrakpam in Imphal East District today.
The drive was organised under the aegis of Dr Vipul Kumar, IG of Manipur & Nagaland Sector, CRPF.
R Duidang, DIG, Padmashri N Kunjarani Devi, Commandant, M Somorani Devi, Deputy Commandant and Ph Ranibala Devi, A/C and over 100 Jawans of CRPF along with volunteers of NSC Club and YLL Club Kundrakpam Kendra actively participated in the cleanliness drive to show support for the cleanliness movement under Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
