Thoubal, October 19 2024:
Highlighting the poor condition of the Wabagai Lamkhai to Kakching Road, the Citizen's Association For Rural Development (CARD) Wabagai has sought the State Government's attention for its swift renovation.
Speaking to media persons, Huidrom Kishwarjit, president, CARD pointed out that the deteriorating road stretch is part of both National Highway 137 (A) and the Indo-Burma-Sugnu Road, with thousands of commuters plying through the road daily.
Due to Government negligence, many potholes dot the road which collects water every time it rains, thereby posing inconveniences and dangers to the commuters, he added.
Stating that the road stretch is most damaged in the Wabagai Lamkhai area, he shared that today's rainfall led water to pool in the middle of the road and caused an accident leaving a few individuals injured.
Despite repeated appeals to the local MLA and PWD Executive Engineer, no corrective measures were undertaken, he maintained.
In view of such circumstances, the CARD president has demanded swift repair of the road stretch and cautioned that the road will be blocked and agitations launched otherwise.
