Protestors demand unconditional release of abducted youths

THB/BPR, Oct 2: Amid the hostage crisis, many have continued to stage sit-in protests demanding rmconditional and swift release of the two youths from Thoubal who were abducted on their way to Keithelmanbi on September 27.At Heirok Part II Thokchom Leikai community hall, the Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi and Heirok Apunba Club organised a sit-in protest urging the Government to facilitate the release of Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, meira paibi leader Thokchom Sandhyarani declared that the tactic of holding people hostage and making demands for their release is an act of terrorism.
She also highlighted the ineptitude of the State Government that has failed to secure the safe release of the two youths even as they have been held hostage for five consecutive days now.
Similarly, a sit-in protest was also held at Kairembikhok in Thoubal district organised by Sintha Club Kairembikhok and Kairembikhok Apunba Meira Paibi.
Ima Meira Paibi Lup Wangjing Hodamba Maning in association with Pioneer Club and WANGGPACO staged a protest demonstration yesterday demanding unconditional release of the two youths at Wangjing Hodamba Maning yesterday.
The demonstrators urged the State and Central to make all-out efforts to ensure the two abductees are safely returned to their respective families.
Meanwhile, Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL) has appealed to both the Central and State Government to initiate strict action against the Kuki militants responsible for holding the two youths hostage.
Addressing the media during a press briefing at KEMKAL office located at Moirang Kangla today, S Bronson, spokesperson, KEMKAL sought the attention of the Indian and State Government as well as the two Manipur MPs to help ensure that the two youths return home safely.
The KEMKAL spokesperson demanded appropriate legal measures against the abductors.
KEMKAL has also vowed to extend support to any step taken by the JAC formed in this connection.
