Family accepts dead body, Sureshkumar remanded to 7 days police custody

Following assurance from the state government to punish the accused involved in the heinous crime, the family of the deceased ****** today accepted the dead body after post mortem for necessary rites.
Class-XII student of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School ********* of Wangbam Heirithong in Thoubal district was found murdered allegedly by her neighbor cousin brother Thiyam Sureshkumar.
Police yesterday arrested the accused from Sugnu area and remanded to police custody for seven days.
Meanwhile, the JAC against the killing of ******, today, staged a sit-in protest along National Highway 102 at Wangbal demanding the stringent punishment of the alleged murderer Sureshkumar.
Chairman of the JAC Huidrom Dijen told mediapersons on the sidelines of the protest that the agitations will continue until the culprit is punished under law.

Students under the leadership of AMSU, DESAM and other students' bodies took out demonstrations at various places of Thoubal district including Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School, Waikhom Mani Girls College, Lamding High School, Kakching Martin Grammar School, Victoria High School, Kakching Makha High School, Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kakching Public School, Kakching Wairi High School and Padma Ratna English School.
On the other hand, the accused Thiyam Sureshkumar who was arrested by police yesterday under FIR no.359 (11) Thoubal PS and charged with IPC section 375 and 302 was today produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal and remanded to 7 days police custody.
According to police source, the accused admitted he had strangulated ******.
However, he did not disclose any rape or murder of the victim.
Talking to this Daily, Assistant Public Prosecutor of Thoubal CJM Maipak opined that 'if the investigating officers of police submit the charge sheets pertaining to such cases in time, then the cases may be settled quickly'.
He expressed that such crimes can be controlled with cooperation of the police.
