'Environment Awareness / Tree Plantation Campaign' launched

Imphal, June 14 2025: A month-long 'Environment Awareness cum Tree Plantation Campaign', jointly organised by the Subaltern Upliftment Organisation and Arapti Mayai Leikai Development Association was launched today at Arapti Mayai Leikai.

The campaign, held under the theme "Upal Thasi, Upal Hinghansi" (Let's Plant Trees, Let's Nurture Trees), aims to address deforestation and ecological degradation.

The event held at Ema Ereima Laibung witnessed active participation of Arapti Junior High School students, Meira Paibis, and local clubs.

At the event, the campaign's initiator, environmental activist Mutum Manikanta, said that the campaign was launched with the aim to address the increasing challenges of deforestation and ecological degradation in Manipur and other parts of the Northeast.

He also urged local clubs and organisations to provide their support in planting and nurturing saplings, and spreading environmental awareness.

Renowned actor Hamom Sadananda was also present at the event.
