Widespread cleanliness drives mark Gandhi Jayanti celebration across State

Chd/Non/Jiri/Kak/Phz/Spi/Tpl/Thb/Ukh, October 02 2024: Commemorating the 155th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated widely across the State today as people and institutions came together to conduct cleanliness drives as a response to Gandhi's call for cleanliness.

The day also marks the end of 'Swachhata Pakhwada - Swachhata Hi Seva' 2024 campaign, popularly celebrated as Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 or Swachhata Diwas.

CHANDEL

The observance of Gandhi Jayanti coincided with the conclusion of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva campaign' at United College in Chandel District.

Students, faculty and nonteaching staff came together to clean the College premises.

NONEY

As part of SHS Campaign 2024, a mass social service was also carried out at Longmai Bazar in Noney District HQ today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The social service effort included activities such as cleaning the drains and road at Bazar Area, schools, college, DC Office Complex, District Reserve Police Quarter campus, Noney police station and Ijei river bank etc.

The cleanliness drive was jointly initiated by Longmai Bazar Board, Longmai Bazar Youth Club, PHED Noney Division and Noney Dist Administration.

JIRIBAM

On the occasion of National Cleanliness Day (Swachhata Diwas) Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) organised a felicitation programme to honour sanitation workers at JMC auditorium hall today.

Awards were distributed to Jiribam sanitation workers accompanied by a prize distribution ceremony for winners of the painting competition on cleanliness held recently.

L Genius Devi (Nouwa Lousingkon), Thongam Preety Devi (RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya) and A Pramjit Singh (RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya) bagged the first, second and third prize respectively in the Class III to V category.

Meanwhile, Thounaojam Jenila Devi (RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya); L Manjit Singh (Cambridge English School) and Paringanba Senjam (RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya) were the first, second and third prize winners in the Class VI to VIII category.

Lastly, P Malemnganba (Cambridge English School); Anjali Dipusha (Jiribam Higher Secondary School) and H Leo Singh (Highway English School) were the top three winners in the Class IX to XII category.

KAKCHING

Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 was widely observed in Kakching district today.

The District Administration Kakching observed the day with a social service and tree plantation programme at DC Complex, Kakching.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohit Anand, IAS and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) M Kapajit led the social service and tree plantation.

Several saplings were planted by district administration officials around the DC Office Complex.

The Kakching Police under the initiative of Superintendent of Police (SP) Th Vikramjit Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) AK Premjit and Officer-in-Charge T Rameshwar organised a social service at SP Office Kakching and Kakching Police Station as part of celebration of National Cleanliness Day.

Officials of the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and BSF personnel stationed at DC Office Complex Kakching also observed the day.

A similar event was also conducted by officials and staff of Sub Treasury Office, Kakching, Government Industrial Training Centre, One Stop Centre, Zonal Education Office, Kakching, Kakching PHE Division among others.

Meanwhile, floral tributes were paid by the officials of the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) on the occasion of 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the culminating day of the SHS 2024 campaign, which is a part of Swachh Bharat Mission.

This year marks the completion of 10 years of the launch of the mass movements for cleanliness.

On the occasion, safety gears and PPE kits were distributed to the sanitary workers.

Apart from it, Special Gram Sabha was also held at Pallel GP as part of Swachhta Hi Seva 2024 under Kakching PHE Division.

PHERZAWL

Pherzawl District police organized an exemplary cleanliness drive to commemorate Swachh Bharat Diwas today.

SP T Lalboi Haokip along with Addl SPs Lunzamung Tungnung and Sangboi Gangte led the police personnel in cleaning the premises of the SP Office.

The team also cleared the wild bushes along the approach road to the office.

SENAPATI

The District Administration, Senapati observed Swachh Bharat Diwas at DRDA Conference Hall, Old DC Office Complex.

Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS; Additional DC of Senapati Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamarang, MCS; CEO, ADC Senapati Adahrii Maheo, MCS also graced the event.

During the programme, DC Mamoni Doley, IAS virtually laid the foundation stone of 13 AWC under PM- JANMAN in the district.

Additionally, a mass social work was carried out in market areas by Karong Senapati Town Committee under CEO/ADC Senapati as part of Gandhi Jayanti celebration.

Under NYK Senapati, 10 youth clubs organised cleanliness drives today at Mave School, DV School, Senapati Government High School and Mt Pisgah College Eco Club.

TENGNOUPAL

Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 was observed today at District Headquarter, Tengnoupal.

The District Administration also launched the PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM JUGA) during an event at the Conference Hall of DC Office.

Meanwhile, a team led by Md Riyajuddin, Additional SP, Moreh Police in collaboration with Moreh CSOs conducted a social service drive in the vicinity of the police station and approach the road to Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 .

THOUBAL

Tulihal Mayai Leikai Welfare Association (TMWA) carried out a cleanliness drive in the areas under its jurisdiction at Yairipok Tulihal under the theme "Social service for promoting the importance of human relationship" .

UKHRUL

Marking the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, the Ukhrul District Administration also observed 'National Cleanliness Day' by organizing social service drives at Mini-Secretariat Compound, Ukhrul.

Along with the observance, the district also joined the mega event of launching Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PMJUGA).

During the event, micronutrients and sprayers were distributed to two Self Help Groups (SHG) and two farmers respectively.
