10 Cong ADC Members hop to BJP

Imphal, April 28 2015 : While the election to the six ADCs of Manipur is just a little over a month away, 10 sitting Congress ADC Members, a former president of MPP Youth Front and seven other people have joined BJP and this political manoeuvre has considerably bolstered the BJP's efforts to open its account in the State.

Continuous defection of Congress and MPP leaders to BJP is a clear indication that BJP would score a landslide victory in the upcoming ADC election, said BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba.

Five sitting Congress ADC Members of Tamenglong ADC, another five sitting Congress ADC Members of Senapati ADC, two Independent Members, former MPP Youth Front president Mayengbam Binod who contested the 9th and 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections in Sugnu Assembly segment unsuccessfully, former candidate in Yaiskul A/C Th Satyabrata, former MLA Khangthuanang Panmei, retired IAS Sword Vashum, former Minister Allaudin Khan's son Md Nasiruddin Khan and Dr Y Antas Khan joined BJP today.

The new entrants were accorded a warm reception at the party office today.

Speaking at the gathering, Th Chaoba said that the decision of some important leaders of ruling Congress party and MPP to leave their parent parties and join BJP is a clear indication of the party's growing popularity.

Moreover, 340 Christian politicians have applied to the party to fight for the total 144 ADC seats on BJP tickets.

This is another indication of BJP's secular character.

The forthcoming ADC election would testify the party's strength in the hill districts of Manipur.

If there were cases of burning Churches by some members of BJP, then those elements should be kicked out from the party but it would be wrong to assume that the arson was committed by BJP.

There is no question of the BJP Government banning beef.

The BJP Government was only planning to ban slaughtering of cows in public places, Chaoba said.

Alleging that nothing was done for development of hill districts by the Congress Government during the past 13 years, Chaoba called upon all the people to uproot Congress party from the soil of Manipur.

BJP National executive member Tapir Gao too called for elimination of Congress party if there should be development in Manipur under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ahead of the reception function, a new website of BJP was launched by Tapir Gao and Th Chaoba.
