Health Minister offers benefits

Informing that a the new scheme known as Manipur State Illness Scheme has been launched specifically for BPL families, Health Minister L Jayantakumar has asked the people to take advantage of the scheme.
Jayantakumar was speaking at the inaugural function of a newly constructed community hall at Thangmeiband Thingel Pukhri Achouba Mapal.
In case, any member of a BPL family falls ill requiring medical expenditure of Rs one lakh or more, Rs one lakh would be reimbursed to the family under the new scheme, the Health Minister said.
Application forms for the scheme may be obtained from Medical Department, he added.
Speaking at the occasion, Works Minister K Ranjit observed that repeated cases of abduction for ransom, extortions and bomb attacks have seriously disturbed public tranquillity in the State.
Noting that Imphal Municipal area from where Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act has been repealed is witnessing numerous cases of violence and criminal activities, Ranjit questioned whether the prevailing situation warrants complete repeal of AFSPA from all over the State.
The community hall inaugurated today was constructed with Rs 2.40 lakhs from MP T Meinya's local area development fund and another Rs 6.50 lakhs produced by MPCC secretary Jotin Waikhom.
