House washed away at Jiri, livestocks swept away at Senapati

Jiribam/Senapati, June 01 2025:
Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding across the State, resulting in one house being washed away by the Jiri River at Jiribam's Kamranga village.
More than 36 homes were flooded at Kamranga as the Jiri River swelled, and the affected families (237 people) have been relocated to the Kamranga Youth Club.
In Senapati, further destruction has been reported in low-lying areas around the district headquarters, including Karong area today Residents at low-lying areas of Senapati district headquarters reported that the water level rose above chest level last night and remained so until Sunday morning.

People of Viewland Colony and Angkailongdi are struggling to cross Senapati River after the wooden bridge leading to the two villages was washed away yesterday as the water level at the other bridge reached above knee.
The two-day flash flood in Senapati also resulted in the loss of numerous livestock, including pigs, chickens, dogs, and other domestic animals, which were swept away by the rushing waters.
The route between Senapati and Oklong has also been cut off after a massive landslide occurred near Maryram Village.
Senapati District Headquarters (DHQ) has also been experiencing power cuts and disruptions to mobile tower services since Friday evening, with the issues persisting until Sunday.
Landslides were also reported on the Tadubi-Ukhrul route at Phaibung and on the Maram-Peren 129/A Highway.
Debris of the minor mudslides that took place between Mao and Senapati were cleared quickly by the district administration, NHIDCL, Senapati Police, and SDSA.
The Barak River and its tributaries swelled in the early morning today, overflowing and submerging areas around Karong.
The rising water also inundated the Karong Sports Complex.
Over 50 households near the Barak River were affected, and residents were relocated to the community hall at Khabung Karong village, according to local authorities.
