Foundation stone laid for 100-bedded DA-JGUA hostel at MUGHSS Chandel

The foundation stone for a 100-bedded DA-JGUA Hostel under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, was laid at the Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), Chandel today.
Virtually laid by Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Govt of India, the foundation stone was unveiled by Md Firoj Khan, MCS, Addl DC/CEO, ADC Chandel at the Administrative Block of the MUGHSS Chandel, in the presence of I Premananda, EE, Education Engineering Wing; Hb Starson Anal, ZEO i/c, Chandel; Kl Warson Anal, Principal i/c, MUGHSS Chandel along with teachers, students, and well-wishers.
To be funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India, the Engineering Wing of Education Dept will take charge for the construction.
Addressing the event, Md Firoj Khan, MCS, informed that the hostel, which will have 50 beds for boys and 50 for girls, will be constructed under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) scheme - a government initiative for tribal development.
He also expressed confidence that the hostel will be vital in enrollment of more students to the school and improve the educational system in the district.
I Premananda, EE, Educational Engineering Wing, assured the gathering that efforts would be made to complete the hostel within eight months so it can be used in the next academic session.
He also mentioned pursuing support from the North Eastern Council (NEC) for further infrastructure development.
Hb Starson Anal, ZEO i/ c, expressed gratitude, stating it was a rare opportunity for the people of Chandel, the only aspirational district in the State.
He emphasized turning it into an inspirational district through such initiatives.
The event was also attended by village authority members of Japhou village, Riverlane village, and SMDC member Noah Langhu who is also the chief of Lambung village.
