Moirang, April 27 2026:
Wangjam Premjit, an internally displaced person (IDP) has issued a strong ultimatum to the State and Central Governments, warning of a hunger strike unto death if peace and normalcy are not restored in Manipur by May 3, 2026 .
Speaking to the media at Oinam Relief Camp, Wangjam Premjit, displaced from Torbung GP Ward No 5, said that failure to contain the "Chin Kuki narco-terrorists" by the stipulated deadline would compel him to launch the protest from the following day.
Premjit stated that since May 3, 2023, the State has been witnessing sporadic violence marked by pain, suffering, inhumane killings, and incidents targeting women and children.
He alleged that the unrest has been caused by "Chin Kuki narco-terrorists coming from outside," who are demanding a separate administration and attempting to destabilise Manipur.
He further claimed that such developments amount to a larger design to fragment the State, asserting that "if Manipur breaks, it is as breaking India" .
Raising questions over the role of leadership, Premjit asked whether State leaders truly care for their people and the future of the younger generation.
He remarked that if those in power prioritise their positions over the welfare of the State, it reflects a lack of commitment to public interest.
Stating that many displaced persons have lost faith in the government, he said that IDPs continue to endure hardship and uncertainty, waiting for meaningful action to restore peace and stability in the region.
