Koide villagers recover from COVID-19 without any fatality
Source: Chronicle News Service

Senapati, June 26 2021: On behalf of the Koide villages comprising Koide Mathak, Koide Makha, Koide Biisho and Koide Zho; Koide Union president KS Solomon has acknowledged and thanked everyone for their concern and support through material and financial contributions and prayers during their time of difficulties.

Mention may be made here that the Koide villagers under Purul block of Senapati district took mass Covid-19 test on May 22.Out of 254 samples collected during mass testing, 126 villagers tested positive.

In addition to 126 Covid-19 positive cases in the village, 29 Koide villagers living at Karong and Senapati areas were also tested positive making the total number of positive cases to 155.Sensing gravity of the situation and as precautionary measure to prevent further spread of the virus, DM (Senapati) Mahesh Chaudhari imposed curfew in the entire Koide area including Koide Mathak, Koide Makha, Koide Biisho and Koide Zho from May 26.All the 126 Covid-19 positive villagers were kept in home isolation and the Covid-19 task force team monitored them regularly.

The age group of Covid-19 positive patients were reportedly 20-68 years old.

However, no Covid-19 positive patient in the village was reported of any serious health condition or had fatality.

The Koide Union acknowledged the invaluable assistance and guidance given during their hard time by many people including ministers Th Biswajit Singh and Th Satyabrata Singh, MLA DD Thaisii, SDO/BDO Purul PP Ronald, who is also Covid-19 awareness cum management committee for 47 Karong A/C convener and Covid-19 awareness team.

To a query on how the villagers managed during the long curfew period, Koide Union president K S Solomon recalled hardships villagers faced during the containment period with no proper house and rooms in a family to keep Covid-19 positive separately and other members of a family.

Both Covid-19 positive and negative members in the family continued to live together in the same house, ate together in the same kitchen and go to the same bathroom and toilet and used the same soap with high chance of community spread.

However, God has protected all the villagers from this global pandemic which has infiltrated even to the remote village in Manipur and there was no community spread of the virus in the village and to the adjacent villages, he said.

From May 10 to June 11, many cultivators were restricted from going to their paddy fields for work even though preparation for rice transplantation was getting late.

However, by the grace of God, all the rice transplantations in the village have been completed on time and they are hoping for a plentiful harvest through God's blessing, he said.

The villagers also expressed gratefulness to all those who extended their prayer support during their critical time for which the villagers are recovering and hopeful of returning to normalcy like in the past.

Many philanthropists also reportedly came forward to help the Koide villages in cash and kind while some through their words of encouragement to the positive patients and to the whole villagers.

The union also acknowledged Dr Helen Shimray, District Nodal officer of Covid-19 Home Isolation, Senapati district and her team for monitoring all the Covid-19 positive patients staying in home isolation, Koide village Task Force team members for their sacrificial works and also the state police force under SI Anthony, who came to assist the villagers during the curfew imposed by DC Senapati.
