Homecoming celebration held

In a remarkable display of community honor and pride, the residents of Paenguandai welcomed home Subedar N Thomas Kamei, who recently retired from the Indian Army after 25 years of dedicated service.
The homecoming event, held at the Sacred Heart Church campus, attracted villagers, dignitaries, and well-wishers eager to celebrate the accomplishments of their local hero.
The ceremony was graced by K Rangjandun, the chief and ex-Officio Chairman of Ngarian (Raengzang) village.
In his speech, he lauded Subedar Kamei for his unwavering commitment to the Nation, highlighting his roles in significant operations such as the Kargil War and the 2002 Parliament attack.
The festivities included traditional folk dances, music performances, and a vibrant procession honoring Kamei's return.
Subedar Kamei, moved by the overwhelming support, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude for the community's role in his journey.
He stated that his achievements are a reflection of the support and love from the villagers and encouraged the youths to consider serving for the Nation.
The celebration culminated with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honoring Subedar Kamei's exemplary service, a testament to the village's recognition of his sacrifice and contributions.
