UTLA calls for new Assembly Constituency

The chairman of United Tribal Liberation Army (SK) or UTLA(SK), S K Thadou today said that he had submitted a memorandum to the GOI (Government of India) and State Govt of Manipur , to club together the two sub divisions, Longpi sub-division and Vangaichungpau sub-division, by carving out from Nungba and Tousem Sub-divisions under Tamenglong District, which will comprise of one MLA and two Sub- Divisional Center s/SDO Offices.
Terming the area the most backward area, he said that the area they inhabited had no administration centre, and they had to spend Rs 1000 for obtaining the document that only cost Rs 10 in SDO office.
He added that it would solve the problem of the indigenous people who are from different communities residing in 49 villages and approximately 8000 plus populace.
He also demanded to the government to include inland waterway at the Barak river and Irang River, water supply tank or reservoir at Old Kaiphundai Village to feed the surrounding village.
