Imphal, October 02 2024:
The youth wing of Federation of Haomee (FoH) has appealed to all Meetei civilians to stop putting their lives at risk by venturing into Kuki dominated places.
In a statement issued by its youth wing general secretary Kh Johnson, the Federation said that all parents should make their children aware of the situation in Manipur and places which have become unsafe for Meeteis to travel.
It also said that local clubs and meira paibi lups must convene a meeting regularly so as to spread community awareness on the situation in Manipur and prevent further disappearance of innocent people.
The Federation also appealed to the Government to deploy adequate security personnel at areas which are adjacent to Kuki places and check the travellers round the clock.
Many Meeteis have been killed by Kukis in the course of the ongoing unrest while thousands of Meeteis have been driven out from their native places, it added.
Cases of Meeteis venturing into Kuki places and putting their lives at risk are not uncommon, the Federation also said.
Further stating that infighting among Meeteis must also be avoided at all cost, the FoH said that movement being taken out by the Meeteis is to protect the legacy passed down by 'our forefathers' .
