Legal awareness programme held

Thoubal, May 31 2025:
In association with five Village Level Federations (VLFs), the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoubal organised a one-day legal awareness programme at Bangshibudhon Temple, Khangabok Part I at 1:30 pm today.
The programme was attended by Thokchom Subhas Singh, chairperson, Khangabok Part I GP; Khangembam Surjalata Devi, Sub Inspector, Kakching police station and Laishram Usharani, president, Anouba Yening VLF as the presidium members.
During the programme, Advocate Khoisnam Lembisana Meidingu, Panel Lawyer, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal spoke about "Child Marriage Act & Domestic Violence" and Advocate Khangembam Arunjoy Singh, Panel Lawyer, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal tackled the subject "POCSO Act, 2012 & Women Victim" as resource persons.
Advocate Khoisnam Lembisana Meidingu said that the increase in rates of child marriage and domestic violence is not a sign of development.
Rising cases of child marriage is one of the determining factors leading to increase in rates of domestic violence.
It is necessary for people to be aware of this correlation, she added.
Meanwhile, Advocate Khangembam Arunjoy Singh shared that in certain cases, people try to take advantage of POCSO Act, 2012 .
He urged parents and guardians from misusing the Indian Constitution.
The gathering also interacted with the resource persons as a part of the legal awareness programme.
