Senapati, May 17 2015 :
United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly raised its voice against the ensuing Autonomous District Council (ADC) election and termed the poll as "spineless and toothless" under the "hollow" act of Third Amendment Settlement of 2008.UNC also stated that Manipur government is "re-imposing" the election when the same was already rejected.
UNC also asked the Nagas not to welcome the Congress party in "Naga areas" for their "oppressive policies" towards the tribe.
The council appealed the Naga people to stand firm and united against the policies of the State Government of Manipur and prepare for any eventuality to protect "inherent rights" and till the political goal is achieved" .
According to the UNC, the demand for Alternative Arrangement having been established and registered, the last 7th Round of 'tripartite talk' on Alternative Arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur was held on February 6, 2014 at Tahamzam (Senapati) and the talk agreed to constitute a High Level Committee to translate the demand into political reality.
However, the "communal Congress Regime" led by O Ibobi Singh have deliberately denied and suppressed rights over land, history, identity, culture, time honoured institution and political aspiration.
