In remembrance of the detention of 68 employees in the police custody for three days in 2010, Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) observed Black Day at their Babupara office today.
It may be mentioned that the employees were arrested from their Babupara office while holding a meeting regarding their stir demanding implementation of the 6th Pay Commission in toto on May 17, 2010 .
JAC former secretary and Manipur State Pensioners' Union president H Yaima was the chief guest of today's function while JAC president Dr M Rajendra was the president.
In a statement, the JAC said that its general secretary and All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) National secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam had represented the State in the National executive committee meeting of AISGEF held in Nasik, Maharashtra from May 11 to 12 .
Purujit put forward the 29-point charter of demands placed before the State Government and other grievances of the State Government employees in the meeting, the statement said.
Observing that the Central Government would implement the 7th Pay Commission from January 1, 2016, the participants of the meeting resolved to press the State Governments to implement the new salary guideline from the same date, added the statement.
