Ukhrul students escorted to their homes

Imphal, May 17 2015 :
Seventy students, both male and female, who were to return home at Ukhrul were stranded in Imphal in view of the indefinite blockade along this state highway.
However with the help of police they were escorted to the district on Sunday.
This was disclosed to Hueiyen Lanpao by Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray.
He said that these students had gone to Nagaland to attend a conference of the Naga Students' Federation at Khonoma, Nagaland.
The Ukhrul students returned to Imphal on Saturday.
Since they could not go straight to Ukhrul they had put up at the Khuman Lampak sports complex for the night.
There was apprehension that there may be clashes at Yorbung and Seijang.
The Deputy Speaker requested the Lamlai police and the Imphal east district police superintendent for provide the students armed escort in the trouble areas.
The students had safely reached Ukhrul.
