Rijiju lands at Imphal

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju arrived here in an Air India flight to campaign for his party in the ADC election today.
On his arrival at Tulihal airport at around 2.45 pm, he was received by Principal Secretary (Home) J Suresh Babu, DIG IK Muivah, Imphal West SP AK Jhalajit and leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
When media persons enquired about Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's recent statement on AFSPA, Kiren Rijiju said that imposition or repeal of AFSPA depends on the ground situation of the State.
If the ground situation permits, then the Act would be lfted, he said and added that AFSPA has been enforced in the North East region in order to maintain peace.

As such, people must bring a situation where the Government does not need to impose strong laws.
The Union Minister further said that there would be no development without peace.
Regarding violation of SoO ground rules by KRF with the killing of two labourers and thrashing of a minor boy, the Minister said that he has been informed about the incident and added that it should have been avoided.
He also said that the State Government and Central Government in consultation with different security agencies would collectively put in effort to restore peace in the State.
Kiren Rijiju said that he has come to the State to meet the party leaders and workers of BJP Manipur Pradesh and review the security of the State with the State Government and Assam Rifles.
Regarding border disputes between Manipur and Myanmar, Rijiju said that bilateral talks are going on and an official team is working on it.
Rijiju further said that he had already attended a meeting on the issue.
The Union Minister is scheduled to review the present security situation of the State with high ranking officers of Assam Rifles this evening.
He will address an election rally at Chandel district headquarters before he leaves Imphal for New Delhi at 3 pm tomorrow.
