Expressing sorrow over the prevailing situation of Manipur, Dr Arun asserted that he had visited Manipur many times before but the situation of the State is very different now.
Regarding their visits to the relief camps, Dr Arun mentioned that the IDPD team visited the relief camp opened in Khuman Lampak on Friday and the relief camp set up in Kangpokpi on Saturday.
He continued that during the visits, it was observed that the many inmates including children, senior citizens and pregnant women were facing various health related problems.
"Due to lack of proper hygiene, family atmosphere and privacy, the inmates were showing symptoms of physical diseases and mental stress", he added.
He also asserted that due to the present violence in the State, many of the inmates, especially children were found suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Seeking immediate attention of the Central and State Government, Dr Arun conveyed that necessary steps should be taken to help the inmates of the relief camps and adequate medical equipment, medicines and nutritious food should be provided.
Calling for peace in Manipur, Dr Arun further assured that IDPD will continue to extend all possible assistance to the people staying in the relief camps.
