Noney, September 02 2023:
Rongmei Naga Council Luangmai Luangrian and Rongmei Naga Council Taiphai Luangrian appealed to all sections of people in Manipur to refrain from carrying out any form of destructive activities along National Highway-37 .
Strongly denouncing the acts carried out by some miscreants at a place along National Highway-37, the aforementioned Rongmei bodies in a press statement urged all concerned not to cause damage at any portion of this highway which is an important lifeline for the people of Manipur.
It is unfortunate that some miscreants are trying to cause damage along this lifeline when the Government and public are making all possible efforts to resolve the communal crisis in Manipur which is going on for almost four months, it added.
The Rongmei bodies termed yesterday's late night act as an act of 'cowardice' since it created fear and anxiety among the locals residing near the area and urged all concerned to refrain from carrying out such acts in future.
'Members of different communities are residing along NH-37, therefore any form of acts should not be carried out which may harm the common interest and affect the life of the public', said the statement.
Highlighting that National Highway-37 is an important route for transportation of essential commodities, therefore causing damage in this route will have a major impact on a large section of the public, it added.
It went on to state that whoever is intending to cause disruption should reflect that one such act will impact many innocent lives.
The Rongmei bodies further maintained that violence will bring no good and urged all to work on the collective path for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
'We also extend our solidarity and share the pain and loss of the numerous people affected by the communal conflict', the statement said.
It is worth noting that the State is going through a grim phase ever since the unprecedented communal conflict broke out in May 3 .
In view of the wide-scale destruction caused by the conflict, all sections of people and the Government machinery have been making best possible to bring back peace and normalcy for the welfare of all.
