MU, SEMCO observe World Entrepreneurs' Day

A 10-day observance of World Entrepreneurs' Day jointly organised by Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University in association with State Swavlambi Bharat Abhiyan, Manipur branch has concluded at the court hall of Manipur University on Thursday.

School of Social Sciences dean professor Th Purnima, national award winning entrepreneur RK Purnima, NELSUROK Enterprises OPC Pvt Ltd founder M Nelson, manipurshopping.com and MARAM founder Swati Thounaojam, Eco Warriors' proprietor Khundongbam Roshan, and JCRE Skill Solutions MD professor L Prabhakar attended the closing ceremony as presid ium members.
The speakers highlighted the roles and contribution of entrepreneurs in improving the economy of a nation and how the state is witnessing a wave of entrepreneurship in the last two decades.
They also mentioned about the employment generated by entrepreneurs among other benefits.
South East Manipur College (SEMCO), Komlathabi, Chandel district also celebrated World Entrepreneurs' Day under the banner of Swavlambi Bharat Abhiyan Manipur branch.
Eden Cafe and Book Store owner Ts Mhanthung Anal spoke on 'Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment' and emphasised on providing solutions over selling products and learning from failures.
Proprietor of Sol Tent and Services Chinir Solomon talked about the 'Scope of Entrepreneurship in Chandel district' and highlighted the impact of government policies on rural livelihoods and the need to understand local cultures.
Chinir Solomon also conveyed that government institutions like Niti Aayog, North Eastern Council (NEC) and Ministry of Development of Northern Eastern Region (MDoNER) are funding the government to uplift livelihood and economy of people in the region.
SBI Chandel branch manager Bs Chawan Anal shared insights on 'SBI Loans for Entrepreneurs' while discussing loan schemes for various businesses.
The event started with introduction of Swavlambi Bharat Abhiyan and its objectives by IQAC member Dr Miranda Mutuwa followed by opening address delivered by college principal Dr L Khiloni.
Around 120 attendees, including youth club members and college students, participated in the event.
