Imphal, November 21 2014 :
After paying compensation to the damage of property at DESAM office after the police raid on November 19, the state government has assured the student body that state police will not cause such activities in the future.
This assurance was given by MLAs RK Anand and N Biren on behalf of the state government.
The MLAs representing the government side had come to an agreement with the agitating students' wing of Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) while the students were staging sit-in-protest in front of DESAM office today.
The sit in protest was organized by students' wing of JCILPS to protest against the baseless raid conducted by Manipur police which had caused damage and vandalized properties of the office.

The representatives from the government side had approached the agitating students and urged them for withdrawing their agitations giving the assurance that after consultation with Dy CM Gaikhangam, the state forces would be warned not to take up such actions in the future.
They also assured the students that the damage done by the police forces would be compensated.
Mention may be made that the JCILPS students' wing had earlier set November 18 as the deadline for the implementation of ILP in the state to save the indigenous people of Manipur.
The police forces had raided the DESAM office located at Keishampat junction on November 19 thereby causing damage to the office property.
It may be noted here that certain agreements had been reached with the parent body of JCILPS after the Government assured to implement a law during the winter session to protect the indigenous people of the state yesterday.
The government has urged the students' wing to withdraw their protests taking into consideration the ongoing Sangai Festival and International Polo Tournament in the state.
The students' wing has also agreed to relax their protests considering the assurances laid down by the government, but are staunched to continue their protests in a democratic way without use of violence.
The students' wing has also warned of resorting to violence, if the government fails to keep its word during the winter session of the state.
