ICFAI University Tripura holds conference on 'Nuclear Physics and Power Generation'

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, ICFAI University Tripura is hosting a five-day National Conference on "Innovations in Nuclear Physics and its Application to Nuclear Power Generation (INP-NPG-2026)" from July 20 to 24 in collaboration with the Indian Nuclear Society (INS).
As per a release issued by ICFAI University, the conference aims to provide a national platform for scientists, academicians, industry experts, research scholars and students to deliberate on emerging trends in nuclear science and technology.
It was inaugurated by Dr Subir Sen, Director (Technical), Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL); Prof Biplab Halder, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI University Tripura; Kishor U Agrawal, former Associate Director, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Joint Secretary, INS; Dr Debabrata Datta, former Associate Director (Safety), NPCIL; and Prof Gautam Gangopadhyay, University of Calcutta.
University officials including Registrar Dr A Ranganath and Dean Priyangshu Rana Borthakur also attended.
Key themes include recent advances in nuclear physics, advanced reactor technologies, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), nuclear safety and security, radiation technologies, and applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in nuclear engineering.
The event has drawn participation from premier research institutions, universities, nuclear industries and policymakers nationwide.
It features keynote lectures and will present Best Oral Presentation Awards to the top three participants.
Dr Arunabha Saha is the convener, Dr Camelia Das is coordinator, and Dr Dipayan Chattopadhyay is organizing secretary.
