Imphal, October 19 2023:
Aggrieved with the shortage of teachers at LMS Law College, Imphal, the students' union of the College has demanded redressal of this issue within the month of October.
Addressing the media at LMS Law College Complex, L Shyamson, general secretary of the College students' union highlighted the importance of the College affiliated under Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) as one of the only law institutes in the State.
However, due to long-term negligence of the State Government, the College is rife with shortcomings, he said.
Highlighting their grievance, he pointed out the shortage of teachers/professors at the College, while adding that against the sanctioned 15 posts for regular teachers/professors, there are currently only 6 regular teachers/professors including the principal and three guest lecturers.
In addition, the salaries of the three guest lecturers have reportedly been withheld for more than two years, he said.
Stating that the shortage of teachers has gravely impacted the academic activities at the College, he urged the relevant State authorities to look into the issue within the month of October and cautioned that the Union with the support of the students will launch a string of intense agitation otherwise.
