Imphal, May 17 2022: A one day orientation cum training programme on 'Prevention, Early Identification and Early Intervention of Developmental Disabilities' was held today at the Examination Hall of RIMS.

The programme was organised by National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Government of India in collaboration with Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS and State Commission for the Persons with Disabilities.

The inaugural function was graced by RIMS Director, Professor A Santa Singh, Dean Academic, RIMS, Brogen Singh Akoijam, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Th Dilipkumar Singh and Assistant Professor of NIEPID, Secunderabad, Dr Shaik Yaseen Shareef and Manipur State Coordinator, NIEPID as the presidium members.

Professor A Santa while addressing the gathering stated that the training programme will benefit the doctors and nurses considerably and it will help the nurses in particular in their future career.

The other dignitaries also highlighted the importance of early identification of Developmental Disabilities and appealed to the trainees to avail the benefit of the training programme so as to help others.
