Kakching CSOs imposed 24-hr total shutdown, demand stand of MLAs

Kakching, November 16 2024:
Denouncing the killing of six women and children by Kuki militants, several bodies of Kakching imposed total shutdown Kakching from 6am to 6pm on Sunday.
The CSOs also demanded Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and Wabagai MLA Dr Usham Deben to declare their stand and reply about the decision taken or to be taken as elected representative on how to end the conflict, within 48 hours Condemning the failure to stop the attacks and killings by Kuki terrorists by state government, irate people of Kakching convened a meeting at Kakching Bazar on Saturday and adopted several resolutions.
A memorandum with the resolutions made during the meeting was then submitted to MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and MLA Dr Usham Deben demanding their reply, and also to announce their stand within 48 hours while cautioning of public boycott if they failed to fulfil the demand of the people.
The memorandum signed by several CSOs representing the people of Kakching included All Kakching Clubs' Co- Ordinating Committee, Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup, Kakching Apunba Ima Lup, All Kha Kanglei Student's Union Kakching, Joint Non- Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) and Langsai Thouna.
The memorandum also questioned whether Central and state government are under Kuki terrorists as they could not end the conflict persisting for more than 18 months.
It also demanded a reply about the re-imposition of AFSPA in areas where the disturbed areas was removed earlier Meanwhile, people of Kakching launched torch rallies at Kakching Bazar denouncing the killing of six people including children by Kuki militants.
The protestors shouted slogans condemning killing of women and children by Kuki militants, denouncing state and central government while demanding that the government should step down as it could not protect its people.
Effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren were burnt during the protest.
A one-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the six women and children and Sophia from Saiton who was killed by Kuki militants.
Protestors also blocked roads at Kakching Bazar, Kakching Khongnang Mari Phangba, Kakching Irengband Road, Kakching Super Market and Wabagai Lamkhai denouncing the killing of six women and children by Kuki militants.
Meanwhile, United Committee Pallel also taken out a Meira rally in the evening in Pallel.
Similar Meira rallies were also taken out in Sugnu, Thounaojam, Yangdong, Kakching Khunou, Waikhong and Thongjao.
