Imphal, May 11 2009: SEVEN UNDERGROUND activists, including three who attempted to kidnap the Director of Remote Sensing, Manipur, were arrested by the Imphal East and West districts police commando during the last 24 hours, according to police sources.

The arrested underground activists who attempted to kidnap the Director were UNLF members- Sanasam Ibohanbi alias Ibo (38) son of Irabanta of Singjamei Janmas Leikai, Naorem Nicholas alias Nanao son of N Samananda of Khongman Zone I, and Pvt Romeo alias Rome (32) son of (L) Leishangthem Iboton of Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai, a police release said.

They were arrested by the Imphal West district police commando yesterday around 10.15am. Meanwhile, a KCP activist, RK Shivakanta alias Shiv (40) son of RK Homendro of Sagolband Tera Mapan Leirak was arrested yesterday around 4 from Nagamapal by the Imphal West police commando, while another activist of the KCP, Laishram Shanta alias Tomba alias Panthou (40) was arrested yesterday evening around 6.15 from Kakwa.

At the same time, two PREPAK activists have been arrested this morning around 8 from Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar by the Imphal east police commando.

The arrested activists were Sanayaima (27) son of Takhellambam Kumar of Bashikhong Bazar and Imu (25) son of S Tomchou of Panthoibi Bazar, a police release said.
