Kakching MLA inspects river rejuvenation initiative

Kakching, January 11 2025:
Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar today inspected the ongoing cleaning of the Irum Ningthou River which kicked off on December 27, 2024 .
The initiative was launched by the Working Committee on Rejuvenation of lrum Ningthou Turel with the goal of saving the river for future generations.
Speaking to media persons during the visit, MLA M Rameshwar expressed hope that the Emoinu festival will usher in peace in the State of Manipur.
Highlighting the significance of the river, the MLA said that not only does it have a close association with history but the local people also depend on the river for their daily needs.
Rejuvenating the Irum Ningthou River will improve the economic condition of the locals and help preserve the indigenous fish species of Manipur, said the Kakching MLA.
Denouncing years of neglect, Mayanglambam Rameshwar assured to leave no stone unturned, including using the Local Area Development Fund, to rejuvenate the Irum Ningthou River.
Lauding the noble initiative, he further appealed to CSOs to undertake similar social welfare programs.
