Tree saplings planted

As part of regular Sunday Eco Club activities, many volunteers planted tree saplings in connection with Van Mahotsav 2024 celebration under the theme of "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" .
The initiative was also a part of Indian Red Cross Society Kakching District's monthly community service where such activities are carried out on the last Sunday of every month.
Around 60 volunteers from Martin Grammar School and Grace Cottage Academy Kakching under Junior Red Cross Society of IRCS Kakching as well as players from Sanjoy Football Coaching Centre Kakching and regular volunteers of Sunday Eco Club participated in today's tree plantation drive.
Notably, Athokpam Romendro Singh, MPS, Addl SP Kakching was present as the main resource person and spoke about the importance of being a good citizen as well as one's career choice.
In celebration of Van Mahotsav 2024, the Lions Club of Ningthoukhong carried out a tree plantation drive at Selloi Leima Laibung, Ward No 9, Kha Potsangbam today.
The tree plantation program was initiated to address the impacts of climate change, said a statement released by L Romesh Singh, secretary, Lions Club of Ningthoukhong.
The Club has assured to ensure thei proper growth and survival of the tree saplings planted today.
Separately, Kakching High School 1986 Class X Batch planted tree saplings in the campus of their alma mater Kakching Higher Secondary School, which was formerly called Kakching High School.
Additionally, the alums visited the residences of their old teachers and sought their blessings while presenting them with simple gifts.
Lastly, the Development Youth Club Athokpam conducted a one-day tree plantation program cum social service in the vicinity of the Club today.
Notably, Khangabok Assembly Constituency MLA Surjakumar Okram provided the necessary vehicles and other requirements to make the initiative a success.
Moreover, the tree plantation and social service effort witnessed enthusiastic participation from the residents, both young and old, as well as Club members.
