Bishnupur bags Best District Award

Imphal, September 27 2025: Bishnupur District of Manipur has been conferred the Best District Award under the Mera Reshma Mera Abhiman (MRMA) Campaign during the 76th foundation day celebration of the Central Silk Board (CSB), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The ceremony was held at the Dr Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru on September 20, 2025 .

As per a release issued by the Directorate of Sericulture, the prestigious award was presented by Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary (Fibre), Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India and P Sivakumar, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Bengaluru.

On behalf of Bishnupur district, the award was received by Dr Sinam Subharani Devi, Scientist-D & Head CSB-Regional Sericultural Research Station, Imphal and K Tahenleima Chanu, District Sericulture Officer, Bishnupur.

The recognition acknowledges Bishnupur district's consistent efforts and initiatives in effectively carrying forward the MRMA campaign, highlighting sericulture as not only a sustainable livelihood but also a cultural heritage of Manipur.

According to the Department of Sericulture, the achievement reflects the collective dedication and teamwork of the staff, whose consistent efforts in implementing awareness programmes, training sessions, and field-level demonstrations for the successful execution of the MRMA campaign.
