Kangpokpi, May 22 2024:
Despite the State Government's inability to locate the bodies of the two Kuki-Zo volunteers brutally killed in the Phailengmol region of Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district, on April 13, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills has resolved to conduct their burial ceremony on May 24 as per the tradition and custom of the Kuki-Zo community.
CoTU's General Secretary, Lamminlun Singsit said that the inability to find the two dead bodies of the fallen heroes even after a month highlights the deep division between the two communities.
He went on to state that they have made the decision to hold a burial ceremony to honour two fallen heroes in accordance with our customs and traditions at the Martyrs Cemetery at Phaijang on May 24 with the highest honour and tribute.
He continued that as a mark of tribute, a total shutdown beginning from 9 am to 6 pm will be imposed on May 24 with all Government and private institutions in the district to remain closed.
