Floral tributes paid to police martyrs, prizes of painting competitions distributed

Bishnupur, October 16 2018: Prizes for spot painting competitions held on October 13 and 14 in connection with the coming Police Commemoration Day 2018, which is scheduled to be held on October 21, were distributed today to the winners at the office complex of SP Bishnupur.

The prize distribution ceremony which started with police officers and personnel paying tribute to photos of 25 police personnel who died on duty was attended by former Minister Kh Punilkanta Singh, SP Bishnupur Hopson Sapam, Additional SP Law and Order Luikham Lanmiyo, Add Sp Operation Ksh Manihar Singh and Principal Modern Higher Secondary School H Ghanashyam Singh as presidium members.

The painting competitions were held in Bishnupur, Nambol and Moirang.

Students of Class VIII to X from 55 schools competed in the competitions.

Ningthoujam Rohen of Bishnupur Higher Secondary School bagged the first prize for the competition held in Bishnupur while Th Nonglen Singh of Innovative Academy Bishnupur and Elangbam Neolian Singh of Bishnupur Higher Secondary School bagged the second and third prizes respectively.

For the competition held in Nambol, Oinam Catherine of Lourembam Mayai Youth Ally Club bagged the first prize.

Lairenjam Abhijit and RK Marshal of Bethel English School bagged the second and third prizes respectively.

For competition held in Moirang, Satellite Nongmaithem Sanatombi Oriental English School Kumbi, S Ajit Singh of Thangal General Academy Saiton and Pankaj Kiyam of Loktak Christian Mission School bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.

The winners were encouraged with cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

Consolation prizes were given to some of the students.

Speaking at the event, SP Bishnupur Hopson Sapam highlighted the importance and significance of the Police commemoration day observation.

More than 30,000 police (India) have lost lives in line of duty.

The observation will provide an opportunity to honour and remember the deeds and bravery of the officers/personnel who died protecting the Country/State, he said.

He urged people to cooperate and build healthy relation with the police and advised the same to the police personnel.

Families of twenty-five slain officers of the district were honoured with simple gifts at the event.
