Elderly abductee's daughter appeals for unconditional release

The daughter of one of the six persons abducted from Jiribam has called for the unconditional release of the abductees even as they have remained untraceable for four days now.
Ningthoujam (Ongbi) Ebenaobi Devi, daughter of abducted Yurembam Rani Devi (60), made the appeal during a torch rally organised by Heirok Apunba Club and Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi yesterday.
Ebenaobi, who hails from Jiribam and currently resides at Heirok through marriage, is third out of five siblings bom to Yurembam Rani.
She expressed strong discontentment with the CRPF personnel stating that they failed to act even as civilians were kidnapped by suspected Kuki militants.
Ebenaobi also expressed serious concerns about the safety and well-being of her abducted family members.
Stating that she met Chief Minister N Biren Singh accompanied by members of the Jiribam Students' Forum yesterday, Ebenaobi contended that the Chief Minister's response has left her discouraged.
The torch rally flagged off from Heirok Gate and culminated at Heirok Litan around 9 pm last night.
Around 1000 protestors took part in the rally.
Additionally, tonight All Khowai Meitei Apunba Lup and meira paibis of Gouranagar under Khowai district in Tripura took out a mass torch rally condemning the abduction of six civilians, including three children, by suspected Kuki militants.
The torch rally began at 5 pm and culminated in front of the Nupilal Memorial Complex at Gouranagar.
The protestors strongly denounced the heinous act of kidnapping innocent women and children and urged the Manipur Government to secure their safe return.
