Imphal, July 15 2009: Peeved by the Government's failure to sanction students scholarship for the year 2008-09, Churachandpur College Students Union today shut down the colleges to highlight their grievance at 3 pm today, reports our Lamka correspondent.

A statement issued by Manglalbel Gangte, GS Students Union CCpur College said the students had no other option but to close down the college as their repeated pleas to the Government failed to receive any positive action.

It urged on the students, teaching and non-teaching staff and Principal of the college to bear with them and claimed them it is the Governments attitude that has forced them to adopt such action.

Saplings planted: 34 Assam Rifles carried out a sapling plantation drive at ARJHS, Thoubal.

Students were encouraged to plant more and more trees and also informed about the importance of afforestation, said a press release of PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
